Dover International Speedway Event Preview

TAMING THE MONSTER MILE: Elliott Sadler and the No.11 OneMain Financial team look to take on the “Monster Mile” at Dover International Speedway this weekend. In the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Sadler has made 10 starts at the track, including one pole award, one top-five and five top-10 finishes, as well as 11 laps led. In the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Sadler has made 24 starts, including 188 laps led and one top-10 finish. He also made one start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, but a crash relegated him to a 24th-place finish in 2010.

SUPPORTING THE REAL HEROES: The OneMain Financial team will continue to support the troops while in Dover with the Real Heroes Program. The No. 11 team will host military members and their families at Nationwide Series races throughout the summer. Fans will also have the opportunity to send thanks to the troops at participating OneMain Financial branches, and through social media. For more information, visit www.onemainracing.com and utilize #RealHeroes.

DOVER AIR FORCE BASE: In conjunction with the Real Heroes program, the No. 11 OneMain Financial team will take a trip to tour the Dover Air Force base on Thursday evening. The team will also host three United States Air Force Airmen at the track throughout the weekend: MSgt. Eric Marquis, SSgt. Jerald Dilley, A1C Jerid Lee Rhodes.

LAST TIME AROUND: In the June 2012 event at Dover, Sadler started from the sixth position and was plagued with a loose-handling condition for much of the 200-lap event. Sadler was able to maintain position in the top 10 for much of the day and crossed the finish line seventh.

TO THE POINT: Sadler fell one position to fourth in the Nationwide Series driver championship point standings, 45 points behind the leader with 22 races remaining in the 2013 season.

LAST RACE: Charlotte: Starting from the 20th position at Charlotte Motor Speedway last weekend, Sadler and the No. 11 OneMain Financial team battled a tight-handling car for the entirety of the 300-mile event. Sadler muscled his way around the 1.5-mile track to bring home a 13th-place finish.

AUTISM SPEAKS: The No. 11 OneMain Financial Toyota will run a special Autism Speaks decal this weekend at Dover International Speedway to support autism awareness. The cause is close to Sadler’s heart, and he will also participate in the Drive for Autism golf tournament on Thursday, May 30 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del.

THINK PINK: The OneMain Financial driver will sport pink Oakley driving shoes throughout the entire Nationwide Series season to show support for breast cancer awareness and honor his mom, Bell. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, and is now a survivor. This season, he will also wear special pink Oakley driving gloves. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on his race-worn shoes throughout the season, with proceeds going toward breast cancer research and education. ELLIOTT SADLER QUOTES:

What are your thoughts on Dover International Speedway?

“Dover International Speedway is always fast. It’s such a unique track being the only other concrete track next to Bristol (Motor Speedway), and Joe Gibbs Racing has a good record there as a team in the Nationwide Series. Dover has a lot of banking, and we seem to run really well there, so this OneMain Financial team is excited to get there and trying to put this No. 11 Toyota in Victory Lane.”

Last week, the OneMain Financial team kicked off the Real Heroes program What can you tell us about it?

“You know, it means the world to me to have a sponsor like OneMain Financial who is willing to create this program for this Joe Gibbs Racing team to support the military members and their families this summer. Last week in Charlotte, I was able to spend time with a family who lost their son in Afghanistan, as he was fighting for our freedom. This weekend in Dover, I’ll be hanging out with three current Airmen from Dover Air Force Base. It’s these men and women who are the Real Heroes in our lives, and that’s what this program is designed to do; to bring them to the track or show our support in different ways. We are getting the fans involved as well, at OneMain Financial appearances, we have thank you notes to send to military members, as well as sending photos online. Without our brave men and women, we would not be able to experience the freedoms we have, and we would not be able to do what we love, including race. So thank you, to all of the heroic men and women, and their families, for the ultimate sacrifice.”
