Gilliland Looking Forward to ‘Wild Deal’ in Phoenix

No. 38 Team Bringing Faster Love’s Travel Stops Ford

STATESVILLE, FEBRUARY 25, 2014 – David Gilliland, driver of the No. 38 Love’s Travel Stops Ford comments on racing at Phoenix International Raceway:“Phoenix is an awesome racetrack. I’ve won there in other divisions and really enjoy going out west and seeing friends and family. We’d struggled there in past years, but last year we ran really well there in both races. So that gives us confidence going back.“With the new rule changes and the qualifying format changes, it’s going to be a different Phoenix than we’ve ever seen. Qualifying is going to be a wild deal. I’m anxious to get out there and do it. I’ve been telling everybody, if I was a fan, I would definitely want to come out and watch it.

“We’re looking forward to getting on track at Phoenix. Frank (Kerr) feels like he’s got a great package figured out and I think it will give us some extra speed.  I consider Phoenix a short track, and short tracks kind of put things back in the driver’s hands, where last week we had to deal with a lot of stuff out of our control.”

JUST THE FACTS: Gilliland has 15 Sprint Cup career starts at Phoenix International Raceway … His top finish at Phoenix is 15th (2008) … Love’s Travel Stops returns for its second of 14 races this season.
