Trois-Rivieres (Quebec, Canada) June 10th, 2014 – Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada / Group Bellemare team will take part in the first race of the 2014 season on oval track, which will occur this Saturday June 14 at the Autodrome Chaudiere, Vallée-Jonction, Beauce, Québec.
This track, which will host the NASCAR Canadian Tire series for the first time, is well-known by crew chief Mario Gosselin, King Autosport, who has competed and accompanied multiple drivers on it in different series.
“I drove in the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada / Bellemare Group, which was adapted to oval circuits, during the trials on May 21st and the results have been great. I cannot wait to be there and to take advantage of Mario’s [Gosselin] expertise,” shares an enthused Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
New circuit to master
Each track has its unique aspects. The effects on the driving strategy, as well as the mechanical settings to employ are just as important. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin will compete on the Autodrome Chaudiere for the first time of his career.
Much like the Riverside International (Antigonish, Nova-Scotia, 8th event – August 16, 2014), which is considered strikingly similar to the famous Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tenessee, United States), Autodrome Chaudiere is nicknamed “Le petit Bristol québécois”. This oval track (1/4 Mile Paved) also features the steepest tilt in Quebec.
“It’s very motivating; it’s a short track with a very steep tilt in the turns, allowing two cars to be neck and neck. This oval track is very popular in the world of stock-car in Quebec. It’ll be a great show for our partners and the fans. A great show indeed!” shares the driver of the #47 Dodge WeatherTech Canada / Bellemare Group.
A race of 300 laps…in two parts
The pits are located outside of the track, making it necessary to completely stop the race, which the series plans to do around the 150th lap.
“Another challenge is added this time, as every team will have to make their pit stop at the same time in order to change tires and refuel the car. The cars will then return to their place for the race’s restart,” explains Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
The drivers will also be allowed to enter the pits at any other moment during the race.
Challenge and action will be at the front line during the Budweiser 300 event at Autodrome Chaudiere this upcoming June 14, join us for the start of the race which will occur at 8 PM.
