This Week’s Silverado…The No. 30 Exide Technologies team will unload chassis TSM-021 for Wednesday night’s race at Eldora Speedway. TSM-021 was last on the track last year in Eldora where Ryan Newman drove it to a third-place finish after an exciting last-lap battle.

Previous Race Recap…Hornaday was off to a strong start in the American Ethanol 200 at Iowa Speedway, running in and around the top five for the first quarter of the 200-lap race and demonstrating he was a candidate for the win. However, an incident on lap 63 with another competitor caused serious damage to the No. 30 Rheem Comfort Products Chevrolet, relegating him to a 21st-place finish at Iowa.

Ron Hornaday Jr. on Racing at Eldora Speedway

“I’m looking forward to returning to Eldora Speedway and racing on Wednesday night in the dirt. Our teams went out and tested a few weeks ago and I think we learned a lot that we can take with us this week. Eldora is so different from anything we do, but I really enjoy it and I think the fans do as well. Hopefully we can stay out of trouble and be there at the end; you just never know in a race like this.”

Eldora Speedway – 1-800-CarCash Mudsummer Classic
July 23, 2014

Playing Dirty…The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Eldora Speedway for its second year of playing in the dirt. The inaugural race last year at the Rossburg, Ohio track was NASCAR’s first event on a dirt track in 43 years; a grandstand sellout which brought fans from 48 states, Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand and Australia to a town with a population of 201. While Ben Kennedy has never made a start on dirt, the 22-year-old tested with Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia earlier this month.

This Week’s Silverado…Kennedy and the No. 31 Heater.com crew will utilize chassis TSM-019 this week at Eldora Speedway. This is the same truck that James Buescher drove in the inaugural race at Eldora last year.

Watch and Listen…The 1-800-CarCash Mudsummer Classic can be seen live on Wednesday, July 23 on FOX Sports 1. Heat race coverage will begin at 7:00 p.m. EDT, with race coverage beginning at 8:30 p.m. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Previous Race Recap…Kennedy overcame handling struggles early in the weekend to run a strong race at Iowa Speedway, earning a top-10 finish in his second start at the 0.875-mile track. After running 19th in both practice and qualifying, the TSM team made adjustments under the first caution of the night that dramatically changed the handling of the No. 31 Heater.com Chevrolet, allowing Kennedy to work his way into the top 10 and never look back, crossing the finish line sixth in the American Ethanol 200.

Ben Kennedy on Eldora Speedway:

“I’m really pretty pumped about this one. Our team tested a couple weeks ago at Wythe Raceway and it was only the second time I’d ever driven on dirt; it was a blast. Probably the most fun I’ve ever had in a racecar. Eldora can be a little bit of a wild card race because it’s so different from what we do every other week and you’re going to have some ringers and dirt guys to compete against, but I can’t wait to get out there and see how it goes. The show that Eldora Speedway put on last year was unreal and the support from the fans was huge. I’m really excited that I get to be in that field this time.”

This time around, Larson and his No. 32 GLAD Chevrolet won’t go down without a fight. No Stranger to Dirt…Hitting the sprint car circuit at age 14, Larson took the dirt world by storm. Kyle Larson on Racing at Eldora Speedway

“I’m really pumped to get back on dirt this week. Last year was a lot of fun and we really should’ve won; so this year, I’m more excited than ever to get it done. My Turner Scott Motorsports team and I did some testing a few weeks ago and I feel really good about our chances to win this thing. With Hillman’s experience in the Truck Series and my experience in dirt racing, I think we’ve got a good combination. Dirt racing is obviously a huge passion of mine; getting dirty, sweating and having mud all over my face is just in my blood. I’ve had some good times at Eldora in a sprint car and it would be cool to get a win here in a truck.”
