Top 5 Things to Make a Memorable Weekend at Richmond International Raceway

TOP 5 THINGS TO MAKE A MEMORABLE RIR WEEKEND
Things Every Fan Should Do While at America’s Premier Short Track

We could probably name 50 activities to guarantee a memorable September 5 & 6 NASCAR race weekend at Richmond International Raceway, but we’re paring that list down to the Top 5 things every fan should do while at America’s Premier Short Track for the Federated Auto Parts 400 and Virginia529 College Savings 250 weekend.

1)      Post-Race Party on the Track: Everybody’s talking about it! For the first time ever, fans are invited to party on the track after the checkered flag flies Saturday night. We’ll get you started with DJ Ghozt spinning a party mix that’ll make you kick up a storm on our asphalt dance floor! We’re handing out glow sticks, light-up sunglasses, thunder clappers, and more. Then, we’ll set the stage and introduce all 16 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers and YOU will be on the track to see it all.

2)      Gwaltney Turn 3 Fun Zone: The Turn 3 Terrace got a makeover, and it’s going to be fun for all ages. First, we’ve added a trackside Ferris wheel that fans can ride before and during the races Friday and Saturday. Second, try out nearly a dozen Gwaltney specialties. If you like bacon, you’ll love it here. Third, the trackside bar returns – so grab a drink and enjoy the race from Turn 3!

3)      Tailgate: There’s nothing better than an all-day tailgate at Richmond International Raceway. Parking lots open at 7:00 a.m. so you can enjoy a day outside at America’s Premier Short Track. Pack your cooler with all your tailgate essentials and get ready to fire up your grill and crack open those beverages at the best party around. And if you forgot to bring a few items, there’s an on-site Kroger store outside of Gate 34, next to Lot D. TAILGATE INFO.

4)      Tag Us: You may have heard the phrase, “Picture, or it never happened!” It’s true. Make sure you’re sharing your NASCAR race weekend experience with all your friends and followers on social media. We have a few hashtags you’ll want to keep handy: #FederatedAutoParts400, #VA529, #GetOnTheGrid, #RIRselfie, and #PostRaceParty. What’s a #RIRselfie you ask? Click here to find out! Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Instagram (@RIRinsider).

5)      Driver Appearances: There’s no sport more accessible than NASCAR, and the race day appearances schedule is proof of that. We have a schedule of Q&As you won’t want to miss, and it’s constantly being updated, so check back often to make sure you don’t miss one.

Don’t have a race ticket yet? No problem! Click here to get your tickets, which start at just $35. Children 12 and younger are admitted FREE with a ticketed adult in general admission on Friday for the Virginia529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race. And you know you’re going to have so much fun Friday that you’ll want to come back for Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event, the “One Last Race to Make The Chase.” It’ll be one of the most intense and heated races of the season, with drivers battling for the final spots in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Once the checkered flag flies, the field will be set for the 10-race championship grid. Tickets start at $40 and tickets for kids 12 and younger are $25 off the adult price in each section. We also offer tickets for children in the alcohol-free Family Section presented by Virginia 529 College Savings Plan. Be sure to stick around once the checkered flag has waved for the inaugural Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Post-Race Party on the Track!
