EARNHARDT CLOSES YEAR WITH 21st

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Jeffrey Earnhardt wrapped up his first full Nationwide Series season with a 21st-place finish in Saturday’s Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Earnhardt qualified 28th and ran as high as 18th in the 206-lap race. He finished on the lead lap.

“It was a good night for us,” Earnhardt said. “Our car was strong throughout the race. Probably could have moved up a few spots, but we completed every lap and brought the car home. A good one.”

Earnhardt drove the GCL Construction/Polyglass-Tobacco Free Florida Chevrolet for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller.

“Jeffrey did a really fine job for us this year,” said team owner Johnny Davis. “Running the full schedule for the first time is a tough job, especially when you see some tracks for the first time. He really performed well all year.”

Earnhardt carried images of fans from the racingreflection.com sponsorship program on his No. 4 car.

Matt Kenseth won the season’s final race, and Chase Elliott was saluted as the Nationwide champion.
