CASSILL FINISHES 35th IN FINALE

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A strong run in the final race of the Nationwide Series season for Landon Cassill was spoiled by late-race engine problems.
Cassill ran as high as 11th in the Ford EcoBoost 300 Saturday and was pushing toward a top 10 in the closing miles when he was forced to park with engine issues.

Cassill finished 35th after completing 190 of the race’s 206 laps.

“What a shame,” Cassill said. “We had one of our best runs of the year going here in the last race and couldn’t finish it. But it was a big year. We had some great races.”

Cassill, driving the Flex Seal Chevrolet, finished 12th in the Nationwide driver standings, scoring three top 10s.

“Landon did a tremendous job for us this year,” said team owner Johnny Davis. “He showed us once again what a tough driver he is. I want to thank him and all the team guys and the sponsors who rode along with us this year.”

Cassill finished the season carrying fan photos on his Chevrolet from the racingreflection.com program.

Matt Kenseth won the year’s final race, and Chase Elliott was saluted as the seasonal champion.
