Canada’s Best Racing Team Announces Partnership with Green Sports Alliance

TORONTO, On (Jan. 27, 2015) – An exciting new partnership between Canada’s Best Racing Team (CBRT) and Green Sports Alliance was just announced. This news hits close to home for the team, which based its core foundation around the desire to make auto racing in Canada more eco-friendly.

“Joey McColm and I originally connected to discuss our shared passion for the environment, and how my efforts around sustainability in business could be applied to auto racing,” said Bud Morris, Team Owner. “From there, environmental sustainability became one of the founding values for the team, and led to the team’s partnership with Green Sports Alliance.”

Green Sports Alliance is a non-profit organization with a mission to assist sports teams, venues and leagues to improve their environmental performance. Industry professionals have come together to exchange information with environmental advocates and leaders on how to improve their current practices and to develop solutions to environmental challenges.

“We are thrilled to add to Canada’s Best Racing Team, led by driver Joey McColm, to our growing roster of green leaders from the world of auto racing,” said Membership Director David Muller. “Joey’s passion for the environment is infectious, and we look forward to working with him to advance this important cause in racing and beyond.”

In addition to nearly 300 teams and venues, CBRT joins partner Toronto Maple Leafs, along with Andretti Formula E racing team, among others, to focus on the common goal of creating change for future generations. Canada’s Best Racing Team will attend the Green Sports Alliance Summit in June 2015 to engage with peers in the sports industry, and to participate in discussions on how to improve sustainability in team operations.

“We are excited to partner with an organization that supports our goals and offers us a network of professionals to help us execute our ideas and strategies. CBRT has already made positive changes in our NASCAR operations over the past year, such as creating a zero waste environment at races. Our expansion to the Trans Am series will allow us to be creative with technology in order to make our cars more fuel efficient. We look forward to ongoing discussions with Green Sports Alliance on how to integrate sustainability into our day-to-day operations and to engage fans in this process,” said Joey McColm, General Manager of CBRT.

In a previous announcement, McColm commented on the need for change in the motorsports industry. In true CBRT fashion, the team continues to support and encourage change by identifying the need for collaboration, education and awareness around environmental sustainability. Their goal is to engage fans to make positive changes for a greener future, in order to pave the way for the next generation of racers.
