ADVANCE NOTES

Bayne at Bristol

This weekend marks a homecoming for the driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion Trevor Bayne, who was born and raised in nearby Knoxville, Tenn.

Bayne makes his second career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend. Bayne started from the 19th position in his first start at the famed short track in March of 2011 and finished 34th.

In 12 starts at Bristol in the XFINITY Series, Bayne has earned one pole position and four top-10 finishes. Bayne recorded his best finish of sixth twice at the .533-mile oval, both in Aug. 2010 and Aug. 2013.

Bob Osborne at Bristol

Osborne will be atop the pit box for his 17th NSCS event at Bristol on Sunday. In 16 previous races at “The Last Great Coliseum”, Osborne has recorded two wins, four top-fives and six top-10s.

Osborne’s two victories came with former Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards in the Aug. 2007 and Aug. 2008 events, leading 182 and 84 laps, respectively.

Recapping Texas

Bayne began the Saturday night main event at Texas Motor Speedway from the 23rd position and was able to race inside the top 20 throughout the evening, ultimately bringing the AdvoCare Ford home with an 18th-place finish. With the result, Bayne improves to 23rd in the championship standings.

QUOTE WORTHY

Bayne on racing at Bristol:

“I love Bristol. It’s home. Growing up in Knoxville it was always a goal of mine to race here. I love racing with my friends and family here to watch. Hopefully we can give them a great show this weekend and get this AdvoCare Ford up toward the front after 500 laps.”
