WAS THERE ANYTHING YOU COULD HAVE DONE HERE TONIGHT TO GET UP THERE AND RUN WITH DENNY? “Start the whole weekend over maybe? He was just so fast. We had nothing for him. We had a second place Discount Tire Ford Mustang and that is right where we finished. We knew he was fast in practice and it transferred right over. I know what it is like to be on the other end of the butt whooping and it isn’t as much fun from this side. Congrats to that team, we just didn’t have a shot tonight.”

“We struggled tonight. I was really happy with my car in qualifying and even in practice we were okay and then tonight the longer we went our car just really fell off. We just struggled with it on the long runs. We have to look at that and kind of do some homework and get ready for tomorrow night.”

“My Mustang was okay. We got it the best on the last run but I think it was too late. I don’t know where we finished and I don’t even want to know. That kind of played out not in our hands. With the way my guys worked on it all day it made me proud. It was good to see how we didn’t fall off like we were in practice or at the beginning of the race. We will go to Talladega where we know we are fast but we have to worry about everyone else there.”

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN TAKE AWAY FROM TONIGHT TO TOMORROW’S RACE? “There is some. I was actually pretty surprised that the track didn’t move around the way Cup practice was. Apparently it is about track temperature. When the sun was out the track rubbered up more and you could feel like it was going to get wide and you look at the fall race here last fall and cars were up against the wall through the corner and ran really high. I was expecting to see that and apparently the cooler track temps make the bottom the dominant lane. I thought that was interesting but I guess everyone else saw that and learned that too. I think this track, to me, is not one that fits my style and I thought it was good to run the XFINITY race to try a couple different things, a few different techniques and look for different balance to maybe try to hit on something for tomorrow. I think I learned a couple things I can talk to Todd about regarding overall feel and the way I drove the car to help myself on the long run. A couple little things like that could help me. That is the reason I ran this thing. I don’t feel this is a good racetrack for me. Even though we won one here it isn’t a track I am really confident about and I think running tonight can help that.”
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE COMING FROM GIBBS TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW? “Both organization I have driven for have been great. I am fortunate as a driver to get to drive for two of the best teams out here, especially on the XFINITY side. I got to drive for both of them and it is cool that I kind of know somewhat how a Gibbs car drives. It has been a few years now but I have a general idea of that and the difference in the Penske car. They are two great owners that are very competitive in more than one thing – more than just racing. I think when people are that driven, that is the type of boss you want to have.”
WERE YOU AWARE OF THE FIRE ON PIT ROAD? “I didn’t see what happened there but I heard a few guys went to the hospital. For us drivers, like Regan said, we don’t really see it so our heads don’t really get spun out in any way. But for a pit crew to see that, that can be challenging. They are all athletes and have all been through tough things before and are tough. That is why they got to this level, because they are tough people and can handle things mentally. Hopefully they are all okay.”
