Front Row Motorsports Ford EcoBoost 400 Preview

Homestead Miami Speedway, Homestead, Fla.

Brett Moffitt | No. 34 Fr8 Auctions Ford

“Homestead is just a lot of fun. It’s so rewarding to run right by the fence, but it’s so easy to make a mistake, too.  It’s really a great place to have the championship race because to be fast there, you’ve got to be so good and just be precise as a driver for the whole race. If you mess up one corner and get in the fence and cut a right front tire, then your day’s over.

“Fr8 Auctions will be on board with us for Homestead. They work with businesses that have extra inventory and sell those products through their auction house. So, it’s a good way to cap off the season, bringing a new sponsor to the racetrack to give them a taste of what NASCAR racing’s all about and get them some exposure.”

JUST THE FACTS: Sunday’s race will be Moffitt’s second Sprint Cup start at Homestead Miami Speedway… Atlanta-based Fr8 Auctions joins the No. 34 team as primary sponsor for Sunday’s race … Fr8 Auctions Founder and CEO Marcus Barela: “Fr8 Auctions is a fast growing organization that strives to be the best. That’s why we are excited to partner with Front Row Motorsports” … Moffitt will sign autographs at the Ford Performance stage Friday at 2:15 p.m. with his Front Row Motorsports teammates … The driver will be at the Florida Lottery display Saturday at 2:05 p.m.

Cole Whitt | No. 35 Speed Stick Ford

“I love Homestead. I think it’s awesome. I don’t know what it is about it. I think it’s partly because it’s the last race of the year. Everybody just seems to be in a different mood down there. Obviously, you have guys going for the championship and everybody else like us just trying to get as many points as possible for the end of the year. But for me, it’s still super relaxed.

“As for the track itself, I think it’s one of the raciest tracks we go to. I’m looking forward to getting our Speed Stick Ford on track. The tires wear out. You start on the bottom to middle of the track and work your way up to the wall, and everyone runs up there. You’ve got to keep your car out of the wall to be good for the end of the race. There’s just a lot of factors at Homestead that I think make it a great racetrack.”

JUST THE FACTS: Whitt has two Sprint Cup career starts at Homestead Miami Speedway … His top finish at the 1.5-mile oval is 26th (2014) … Speed Stick returns to the No. 35 as primary sponsor for Sunday’s race … Whitt will sign autographs at the Ford Performance display on Friday at 2:15 p.m. with his Front Row Motorsports teammates … The driver will be at the Florida Lottery display Saturday at 11:15 a.m.

David Gilliland | No. 38 Florida Lottery Ford

“Homestead is fun, and each year it gets a little more challenging. You’re always chasing the track, throughout a run and as the weather changes throughout the race. You’ve got options, you can pass, and as a race car driver, that’s what makes a racetrack fun. You’re not married to one groove.

“I’m really excited to have the Florida Lottery back on our car for this race. They were on our car for the Daytona race in July, and we had a great time with them. We know there’s a big prize at stake on track this weekend, but there are also some pretty big prizes you can win with the Florida Lottery. So, everybody needs to stop and buy a ticket or two and ‘just imagine.'”

JUST THE FACTS:  Gilliland has nine Sprint Cup starts at Homestead Miami Speedway … His best finish at the track is 25th (2010) … Florida Lottery returns to the No. 38 Ford for the second time this season as primary sponsor … Gilliland will sign autographs at the Ford Performance display on Friday at 2:15 p.m. with his Front Row Motorsports teammates … The driver will be at the Florida Lottery display Saturday at 11:45 a.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m.
