Nationwide’s SmartRide® Program Expansion Rewards Safe Driving

Digital marketing campaign promotes usage-based insurance program

COLUMBUS, Ohio – SmartRide®, a usage-based insurance program, gives Nationwide members personalized feedback to help them make even safer driving decisions. Nationwide’s SmartRide program has been in the market for several years, and we’ve already collected billions of miles of driving data, since the program’s inception.

Nationwide recently launched a digital marketing campaign to bring even more awareness to this product and its member benefits. Members earn an instant 10% enrollment discount when they sign up. The safer a member drives, the higher the discount could get – up to 40%.

Today the program is available in 24 states, including the recent launch in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Washington D.C., Delaware, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee and West Virginia. The details vary by state. (In California, discounts are based on mileage, and the maximum is 15%).

“At Nationwide our members come first,” Larry Thursby, Vice President of Property & Preferred Auto Product/Pricing at Nationwide said. “If you’re a driver committed to staying alert, avoiding distractions, and following the rules of the road, we’re going to reward you for it. This marketing campaign communicates how easy it is to participate in the program, and how members can see their progress and estimated discount through a personalized SmartRide experience.”

The campaign focuses on consumers who are looking to have better control of their auto insurance premiums. Consumers can learn how the program works at nationwide.com/getsmartride and through explainer videos.

SmartRide is an optional program available to Nationwide members who have auto insurance, and there is no cost to participate.
