Motorcraft/Quick Lane Team Looks for Return to Top 10 at Kansas

DEARBORN, Mich., October 12, 2016 – Kansas Speedway may not be home to Ryan Blaney but there’s no place like it recently for the driver and his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team.

Blaney has fifth-place and seventh-place finishes in two attempts at the Kansas City track. He also has a pair of third-place results, one in the XFINITY Series and another in the Camping World Truck Series, there.

Some Kansas home cooking might be just what the doctor ordered to help the Wood Brothers’ rookie-of-the-year candidate recover from consecutive accident-induced finishes in the 30s.

“I always like going to Kansas. I feel like it’s a track that suits this team well and we are hoping to improve on our run there earlier this year.”

— Ryan Blaney

RYAN BLANEY KANSAS FAST FACTS:

Finished fifth at Kansas in May.

Finished seventh at Kansas last fall.

Has third-place finishes in 2013 Camping World Truck Series race and 2014 XFINITY Series race.

WOOD BROTHERS KANSAS FAST FACTS:

Has 13 starts at Kansas.

Finished in top five twice.

Has five top 10 results.

Best finish was second in the 2004 race with Ricky Rudd behind the wheel.

CREW CHIEF JEREMY BULLINS ON THE HOLLYWOOD CASINO 400:

“The driving style at Kansas probably is more similar to XFINITY cars and trucks than some other intermediates. Ryan had a lot of experience in those series before jumping in the Cup car, so the transition was probably easier than some of the other tracks. It’s a fast track and Ryan does really well at the places you have to be on the throttle a lot. They suit him very well.

“Strategy will be important at Kansas as track position is big. It’s a very aero sensitive intermediate track and if you get track position you can generally hold it pretty well.”
