Broll Sweeps AM Class in McLaren Trophy Season Opener at Sonoma Raceway

Harvey and Liddy, Teo and Holton Claim Pro Wins as Langberg Earns Two Papaya Cup Podiums

Monrovia, California (Wednesday, April 1, 2026) – Forte Racing drivers combined for eight podium finishes at the McLaren Trophy America season opener this past weekend at Sonoma Raceway. Cooper Broll won both races in the AM class with Tanner Harvey and Patrick Liddy winning Race 1 in the Pro class while Kaia Teo and Paul Holton took the top spot in the Pro class on Sunday in Race 2. Pro/Am drivers Neil Langberg and Kevin Madsen finished fourth in both races while capturing two Papaya Cup podiums for Langberg.

No. 8 PiedParker McLaren Artura Trophy Evo (AM) – Cooper Broll

Broll, competing solo in the AM category this season in the No. 100 PiedParker McLaren Trophy Evo, took the pole for Race 1 and qualified 2nd for Race 2. The Northern California driver used his experience at the track to bring home wins in both races along with the Driver of the Weekend trophy, while helping the team win the Team of the Weekend Award.

Cooper Broll – “I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the 2026 McLaren Trophy America season, with clean back-to-back wins. Achieving this as a solo driver at my home track – and being named Driver of the Weekend on top of it – made this weekend incredibly special and one for the books. The Forte crew gave me everything I could’ve possibly asked for, setting me up for success each session. Thanks to them, as well as my driver coach Carter Fartuch, I was able to start the season off with a bang. I am beyond proud of what we accomplished this first weekend and can’t wait to see what the rest of 2026 brings!”

No. 24 Cypress Land McLaren Artura Trophy Evo (Pro) – Tanner Harvey / Patrick Liddy

The duo of Tanner Harvey and Patrick Liddy had a great start to the weekend as well in the No. 24 Cypress Land entry, taking the Pro win in Race 1 and capturing pole for Race 2. Harvey started Race 1 and drove a great stint before handing the car off to Liddy who moved through the field to take the lead in the Pro class and challenge for the overall lead. Race 2 saw Liddy start from the pole and stretching the Pro lead before giving the wheel over to Harvey who drove a phenomenal stint holding off Paul Holton for eight laps before the seasoned veteran was able to get past him.

Tanner Harvey – “Sonoma was an awesome weekend to kick off the season. We were really competitive, finished second overall and first in Pro in Race 1, and then third overall in Race 2 after a really hard fight for the win. Racing against a factory driver pushed me hard and I learned some great lessons. Patrick did an amazing job all weekend and Forte gave us a great car. Definitely a weekend we can build on for the rest of the season.”

Patrick Liddy – “We had a nice season opener in McLaren Artura trophy this weekend with a P1 and P2 in the pro class. Big thanks to Tanner, who did an incredible job holding off hard charging pros in Race 2, and to the guys at Forte for a great racecar. We’re looking forward to tearing up the streets of Miami for round 2”

No. 8 Sigma Plastics Group McLaren Artura Trophy Evo (Pro) – Kaia Teo / Paul Holton

The weekend saw a successful campaign for the No. 8 Sigma Plastics Group entry start off with Holton putting the McLaren Trophy Evo on the pole for Race 1 and a strong first stint before handing the car to Teo with a comfortable lead. Unfortunately, the gap was eliminated with a yellow flag that brought the field back together. Despite the great restart by Teo, veteran driver Liddy managed to get past the younger driver. Teo kept her focus and came home with a second-place Pro finish before flipping the script with Holton making the pass on Harvey to take the win in Race 2.

Kaia Teo – “Starting off the season at Sonoma, we couldn’t have asked for more. As a team, Forte was strong all weekend and I think we can be super proud of that. For Paul and I, 5th overall and P2 in class in race 1 and 2nd overall and P1 in Pro for race 2 is a result that we are happy with and will continue to build on. The biggest thank you to everyone involved in making this effort possible- competing in this series is a dream come true and I can’t wait for the rest of the season!”

Paul Holton – “First weekend of McLaren Trophy America 2026 was more than I could ask for! Kaia did fantastic, the team did fantastic, everything operated as a solid unit and I’m looking forward to my next race with the team in Atlanta”

No. 53 Race for RP McLaren Artura Trophy Evo (Pro/Am) – Neil Langberg / Kevin Madsen

The No. 53 Race for RP McLaren Artura Trophy Evo of Neil Langberg and Kevin Madsen delivered a consistent and impactful weekend in the Pro/Am category, finishing fourth in both races while securing two Papaya Cup podium finishes for Langberg. The duo also showed strong pace in qualifying, with Madsen placing the entry on the front row for Race 2, marking the duo’s best starting position of the weekend.

Neil Langberg – “What an inspiring opening weekend for the Forte-Race for RP team! Tons of social media exposure and recognition for our cause. Thanks to the entire Forte team for carrying the banner, giving us the best car set up ever, managing a full paddock like a well-oiled machine, and never missing the details. Kevin stayed full throttle, Jon kept me out of trouble, and on track, allowing the OGR back-to-back Papaya Cup finishes. Many more thanks to our partners, McLaren Trophy America, allowing us to drive awareness and accelerate research for autoimmune diseases. This is why we race.”

Kevin Madsen – “Hats off to the entire Forte Racing team on a well-deserved team award. Shane’s leadership with the growth of the team in the McLaren paddock has been a blessing. He’s led us to the front row on track as seen in qualifying 2 and race 2 but also in the reach we’re getting for Relapsing Polychondritis. There was a big crowd on hand, and it was great having so many donors to Race for RP present. My parents were there as a part of that group as well as many excited Mclaren Hot Laps participants. It was a special weekend and I’m thankful to all involved including my badass teammate, Neil.”

Program Manager Jon Miller – “Sonoma was a solid way to open the season for the No. 53 RP Motorsports by Forte Racing entry, Neil built on his previous success here with another strong performance finishing P2 in the Pro Am Papaya Cup, and Kevin once again showed his experience and qualifying pace, which gave us track position to work with throughout the weekend. As a group, we executed cleanly and came away with a strong foundation to build on for the rest of the season. We’re excited for Miami F1 up next. Stay tuned to our team and driver social channels: we will have more details on an exciting fundraiser that will offer exclusive access to the Las Vegas Grand Prix with top tier hospitality club access and hotels – all to benefit Relapsing Polychondritis research.”

Forte Team Management

Team manager David Cozart credited the team’s preparation and execution across all four entries as a key factor in the strong opening weekend at Sonoma.

“What a great way to start off this season. We’ve done a lot of hard work in the off-season and we got to show some of that off this last weekend. I would like to thank our drivers and engineering staff for a job well done. The biggest thank you goes to the crew who sacrificed some long days to get us here – thank you, ladies and gentlemen. Now we have to maintain that momentum and keep it strong.”

Team owner Shane Seneviratne said the season-opening weekend at Sonoma was a strong reflection of the team’s depth, preparation, and continued growth across all four entries.

“I’m really proud of what this group accomplished at Sonoma,” said Seneviratne. “To come out of the first weekend with wins across multiple classes, eight podiums, and both Driver and Team of the Weekend honors says a lot about the effort everyone has put in behind the scenes. What stands out most is the balance across the team. We had strong performances from our returning drivers and great execution from our new additions right out of the gate. That’s not easy to do in a competitive field like this.

This gives us a great foundation to build on as we head into the rest of the season.”

Next up for Forte Racing and the McLaren Trophy America championship is the Miami Grand Prix weekend, May 1–3, where the series will take to the streets as part of the Formula 1 event.
