NASCAR postpones Richmond Truck event to Saturday

The 2026 Black’s Tire 250 at Richmond Raceway has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The event was initially scheduled to occur on Friday, August 14, at 7 p.m. ET. Due to inclement weather that involved heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning holds and a fire in the TV compound, the event’s coverage will now air on Saturday, August 15, at noon ET while being aired on FS2.

Saturday’s postponed event at Richmond is scheduled to mark the 17th event of the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. It is also scheduled to be the series’ penultimate regular-season event before the Chase commences and the 10-driver field who will embark on a seven-race stretch for this year’s championship starts in mid-September.

Prior to the main event’s delay and postponment, the event’s practice and qualifying sessions occurred, with Shane van Gisbergen notching his first Truck Series pole position in the latter session with a pole-winning lap at 116.540 mph in 23.168 seconds. He and Kaden Honeycutt (116.470 mph, 23.182 seconds) will lead the field of 36 starters to the event’s start from the front row.

The 2026 season is the first time where the Black’s Tire 250 event has been postponed a day after its original scheduled date due to inclement weather. It is also scheduled to be the 18th time where the Truck Series will compete around the 0.75-mile short track oval in Richmond, Virginia. The series will not return in 2027 and will replaced by the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series as part of a Cup Series doubleheader weekend feature between September 10-11.
