Tristan McKee will compete in an expanded schedule of NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series events for Spire Motorsports in 2027.
The news, which was revealed through social media by Spire Motorsports on Wednesday, September 30, occurs 13 days after the 16-year-old McKee from Kannapolis, North Carolina, achieved this year’s ARCA Menards Series East championship with Spire. McKee has also made his first three career Truck starts with Spire throughout this season and has a pair of events remaining to his 2026 schedule.
“I’m really excited to continue in Trucks with Spire next year,” McKee said. “We started off strong with a lot of speed and good finishes, and I know we’re capable of more. It wouldn’t have been possible without all of the hard work from everyone at the team, from the ASCENT Program up to [the NASCAR] Cup [Series] and everyone in the shop.”
McKee, who was announced as a development competitor for Spire Motorsports in January 2025, is a former champion of the INEX Summer Shootout Bandolero Bandit, Thursday Thunder Bandolero Bandit and Cube 3 Architecture TA2 Series. He is also the youngest winner in the CARS Pro Late Model Tour division after winning at Dillon Motor Speedway at 12 years of age.
In 2025, McKee became the second-youngest winner in the ARCA Menards Series’ history after he won in his debut at Watkins Glen International. This season, he competed on a full-time basis in the ARCA Menards Series East division, where he won half of the series’ eight-race schedule and won the championship by three points while driving the No. 77 Chevrolet entry for Spire Motorsports.
On July 30, McKee was revealed to make multiple Truck starts in Spire’s No. 77 Chevrolet Silverado RST entry for the remainder of the 2026 season. He recorded an eighth-place result in his series’ debut at Richmond Raceway before he backed it up by finishing in sixth place at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, both of which occurred in August. McKee’s recent result was fifth place at Bristol in mid-September, in which he became the youngest top-five finisher in the series. Currently, McKee has Phoenix Raceway on October 16 and Martinsville Speedway on October 30 left on his Truck schedule in 2026.
Spire Motorsports’ full driver and details of its Truck Series program for 2027 remains to be determined.
The team’s 2026 season resumes on October 9 at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, for the Ecosave 200. The event’s broadcast time is slated to commence at 5 p.m. ET on FOX, NASCAR Racing Network and SiriusXM.
