PREECE CHALLENGES RICHMOND

RICHMOND, Va. – After a top-20 run in last week’s tough race at Bristol, Tenn., Ryan Preece moves on to another short track this weekend, driving the G&K Services Chevrolet in Saturday’s ToyotaCare 250 Xfinity Series race at Richmond International Raceway.

Although Preece has no experience in NASCAR major-series racing at RIR, he has competed in a K&N Pro Series East race at the track, finishing 14th after starting 35th in a race last season.

“I’m definitely excited to be getting back to Richmond,” Preece said. “I think everyone knows I love short tracks, and I’m really excited for the heat races and everything we have going on.

“I ran at Richmond in a K&N car last year, and I feel like the track time will pay when it comes to this weekend. Hopefully, after last weekend at Bristol, we can take the post-race notes and use them to help our car for Richmond.”

Preece finished 19th in last weekend’s race at Bristol and is 17th in the Xfinity driver standings.

Practice is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. (ET) and 3 p.m. Friday. Qualifying is set for 9:35 a.m. Saturday. For the second time, the field for the feature will be set through a pair of heat races. The first 35-lap heat is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., with the second heat to follow immediately.

The 140-lap main event is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.
