SMITHLEY ROLLS ON TO RICHMOND

RICHMOND, Va. – Sitting 20th in Xfinity Series driver points, Garrett Smithley hopes to make a jump this weekend with a solid finish in Saturday’s ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond International Raceway.

Although Smithley has driven on the three-quarter-mile track, Saturday’s racing will be his first at RIR.

“Bristol was definitely a challenging weekend, but we made the most of it and came home with a solid finish,” Smithley said.

“My No. 0 JD Motorsports team worked really hard to improve our short-track car, and I’m really excited to head back to a short track and apply what we learned at Bristol.

“Richmond is another track that I have driven but not raced, so that will help us get up to speed faster in the first practice.”

Practices are scheduled at 12:30 p.m. (ET) and 3 p.m. Friday. Qualifying will be held at 9:35 a.m. Saturday, to be followed by a pair of 35-lap heat races that will set the field for the 1:45 p.m. feature, a 140-lapper.
