Jeremy Clements Scores Career Best Finish; Named Mobil 1 Driver Of The Race

SPARTANBURG, SC- It was a finish that will go down in NASCAR XFINITY Series history, as no one was sure who actually won the Sparks Energy 300 when the checkered flag flew at Talladega Superspeedway.

“I’ve had some wild races in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, but that was crazy!” grins Clements. “Our Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet / BRT Extrusions Chevy Camaro ran great in traffic, especially considering that it was not a super-speedway car.  In fact, our team doesn’t even have a super-speedway car.  We were racing an eight year-old car built for Michigan or Atlanta or a track like that, not Talladega.”  Nonetheless, it worked.  And it worked well.

Jeremy ran in the Top 15 most of the day and led for seven laps.  He never left the Top 10 after he put the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet / BRT Extrusions Chevy out front.  And as the race wound down, he kept his Chevy second in line in the outside lane, his front bumper pushing the 48 car.

“I kept watching the temperature gauge,” adds Clements. “I kept seeing temps between 270 and 280 and was hoping we didn’t blow up.  It didn’t, though.  It just kept on pulling like crazy.  My Dad and Uncle sure know how to build engines.”  The #51 Chevy receives its power from Clements Racing Engines.

A final lap a multi-car wreck created havoc as the leaders approached the finish line.  When all was said and done, Jeremy Clements scored the best finish of his NASCAR XFINITY Series career, fourth place and earned the Mobil 1 Driver Of The Race Award.

“That was really awesome, scoring my best career finish so far and winning the Driver of The Race Award from Mobil 1.  Absolutely awesome,” says a happy Clements.

“Hopefully people noticed how well Jeremy raced and will want to come on board as sponsors,” notes CM2’s Nick Amadio.  “This team showed they can run upfront and contest for the win.  They just need some marketing partners to support them so they can do so on a regular basis.”

Jeremy climbed from 16th to 13th in NASCAR XFINITY Series Driver Points with his fourth place finish.

Next race for JCR and Jeremy Clements is the XFINITY 200 at Dover International Speedway.  The race will be broadcast on Fox, Sirius Channel 90 and MRN at 2 pm ET on Saturday May 14th.
