SMITHLEY 27th AT POCONO

LONG POND, Pa. – Garrett Smithley finished 27th in Saturday’s rain-shortened Pocono Green 250 XFINITY Series race at Pocono Raceway.

The first XFINITY race in Pocono history was scheduled for 100 laps, but afternoon rain showers pelted the speedway and forced NASCAR to call the race after 53 laps.

Smithley was caught a lap down by the rain.

“We had a top-20 car, no question about it,” he said. “I was ready to get back out there and get after them again. Too bad about the rain. But I really love this track, and we’ll be ready for them next time.”

Smithley is 19th in Xfinity driver points.

Kyle Larson won the race, and Daniel Suarez kept the series point lead.

The series moves on to Michigan International Speedway for a June 11 race.
