Brian Scott to Make First Cup Start in Irish Hills of Michigan

Albertsons Companies to Adorn the Hood of No. 44 Ford Fusion

Brian Scott may be making his first Sprint Cup Series start this weekend at Michigan International Speedway, but the two-mile speedway is not a new track for Scott with several years of XFINITY Series racing experience there. Following a frustrating Monday in Pocono, due to a rainout on Sunday, Scott and the No. 44 Albertsons Companies team are looking to bounce back and bring home a top finish for Richard Petty Motorsports.

Scott heads into Michigan with some of his best statistics from the XFINITY Series. In six starts, Scott has one Top-Five, four Top-10 and six Top-20 finishes. The track is also very similarly designed to Auto Club Speedway, where Scott earned his career-high best finish in the Sprint Cup Series when he finished 12th at the race in March. Scott also has two starts in the Camping World Truck Series at Michigan, but this will be his first Cup start.
Albertsons Companies returns to the hood of the No. 44 Ford Fusion this weekend, along with Safeway. Albertsons Companies is one of the largest food and drug retailers in the United States, with both a strong local presence and national scale. They operate 2,200+ across 33 states and the District of Columbia under 18 well-known banners including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, ACME Markets, Tom Thumb, Randalls, United Supermarkets, Pavilions and Star Market and Carrs.

“Last weekend was frustrating for sure, but it’s in the rearview now, and we’re moving forward to Michigan as a team. I’m looking forward to getting to Michigan. I’ve raced well there in the XFINITY Series, and the track is very similar to California, where we ran well earlier this season. We’re running the new package that we raced with in Charlotte this weekend, and I think it will help with the handling of our Ford Fusion and give us a chance to race at the front of the field.”

No. 44 Albertsons Companies Ford Fusion

A performance and marketing driven company, Richard Petty Motorsports, co-owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty and successful business entrepreneur Andrew Murstein, is one of the most recognized brands in all of motorsports. With a history of over 200 wins and business partnerships with national and global leaders, today the race operation fields two teams in competition in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with drivers Aric Almirola and Brian Scott. Almirola will return to the iconic No. 43 Ford with partners Smithfield Foods, STP, United States Air Force and the “Fresh From Florida” campaign. Scott will make his debut with the team and drive the Petty Family No. 44 Ford. Albertsons Companies, Shore Lodge, Twisted Tea and GoBowling.com will join Scott as he competes for Rookie of the Year in his first full-time season in the Sprint Cup Series. Richard Petty Motorsports will also field the No. 43 Ford Mustang in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. The team is headquartered in Mooresville, N.C.
