ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Kentucky

Ryan Reed has competed at Kentucky Speedway four times in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS). In this race last year, Reed finished 14th after starting 12th. In his last appearance at the track, he finished 25th after starting 19th and getting caught up in an early-race incident on Lap 2.

Reed also has one start in the ARCA Racing Series at Kentucky. He won the event in 2015 for Lira Motorsports after starting ninth and leading 20 laps to take home the victory.

Riding with Ryan

American Diabetes Association® representative and diabetes advocate Stewart Perry will ‘ride’ along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during this weekend’s race. The Lexington, Ky. resident will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window of the No. 16 Ford Mustang.

Like Reed, Perry lives with diabetes and knows the importance of staying healthy to manage his diabetes. He was diagnosed 26 years ago and manages his diabetes through adhering to medication, sticking to his diet and getting plenty of physical activity. Perry raises funds and awareness for the Association by walking in the Lexington-area Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes® as an elite champion, a top fundraiser who lives with diabetes. He also serves on the Association’s Bluegrass Community Leadership Board and is a former chair of the national Board of Directors.

Reed in 2016

Reed is scored 10th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series Championship standings after 15 races. He has led eight laps for the season, has one top-10 finish and has recorded an average finish of 16.7.

Daytona Recap

Reed and the No. 16 team finished sixth at Daytona International Speedway on Friday night after starting 14th and avoiding several on-track incidents throughout the evening.

Reed on Kentucky

“If we can keep up the momentum we’ve had the past couple of weeks, we will be in really good shape for this weekend and the rest of the season. Our Roush Fenway team has been preparing hard for the race this weekend and the extra practice sessions on Thursday will definitely help us get our No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang dialed in for Friday night’s race.”

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Kentucky Speedway on Friday, July 8th at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network and PRN.

Meet Ryan

Reed and teammate Bubba Wallace will sign autographs for fans at the Kentucky Speedway Fanatics Trackside Superstore on Thursday, July 7th from 3:00 – 3:30 p.m. ET.
