Biffle Finishes Fifth at Loudon

LOUDON, N.H. (July 17, 2016) – Greg Biffle drove his No. 16 NESN Fuel Ford Fusion to a fifth-place finish Sunday afternoon at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, extending his string of top-10 finishes to three in a row.

“It was a great run with the No. 18 car there toward the end,” said Biffle after the race.  “We finally had a chance to race with those guys a little bit. We are still working hard on these cars to get them faster. It was a great run for the NESN Ford Fusion today. There was a lot of attrition there at the end that got us in the top-five but once we got up there we were pretty fair racing with the No. 18, No. 4 and No. 22.

“We have a lot of momentum right now. Everybody did a great job on the NESN Ford Fusion. We just worked hard at it. We got a lap down on that long run in the middle of the race but we were able to come back. Brian made the right calls and we got it up there. Once I got it up in a little cleaner air in the top-10 it started coming to life. I changed my line a little bit and adjusted on the brakes and were able to run down the No. 4 and No. 22 at the end there. A few more laps there and we could have maybe been racing with those guys.”

Greg Biffle started the race from the 28th position and was able to pick up a few positions before the competition caution on lap 35.  Biffle pitted for four tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment and after the stop was able to keep slowly advancing through the field.

Despite wedge and air pressure adjustments Biffle still needed more turn.  Through a cycle of green flag pit stops, his No. 16 NESN Fuel Ford got trapped a lap down to the leaders.  A caution came out with 82 to laps to go allowed crew chief Brian Pattie to gamble by taking the “wave around” and getting back on the lead lap.

The gamble paid off when a caution was displayed on lap 264.  Biffle pitted for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment.  As the race drew to a close, multiple cautions unfolded on the track, but luckily Biffle was able to avoid them.  Biffle took the final green flag with 11 laps to go in the eighth position and was able to work his way forward to cross the finish line fifth.
