CHASTAIN LOOKING FOR MORE AT DARLINGTON

DARLINGTON, S.C. – Ross Chastain turned his first appearance at Darlington Raceway last season into a big day.

Chastain finished 10th in Darlington’s XFINITY Series race last year, giving him optimism as the tour heads to the track for Saturday’s VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200.

“I had a great time at Darlington last year, and we’re looking forward to going back,” Chastain said. “It’s a tough old track, but if you have a good car and you pay attention, you can get around there pretty quick. We’re looking for a strong run in the special No. 4 Chevy this week.”

As part of the track’s “throwback” weekend, the 4 on Chastain’s South Carolina Education Lottery Chevrolet will be similar to the style number raced by Joe Henry Thurman, one of team owner Johnny Davis’ first drivers. A national Sportsman champion from Rocky Mount, Va., Thurman raced for Davis in the early 1980s.

Chastain sits 15th in XFINITY points entering the Darlington weekend.

Practice is scheduled at noon and 2:30 p.m. (ET) Friday. Qualifying is set for 11:45 a.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 3:30 p.m.
