HEADING HOME: For the second consecutive NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, Clint Bowyer will be behind the wheel of the No. 2 Bad Boy Buggies Chevrolet Silverado as he returns to a hometown crowd to compete in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway on June 4. The Emporia, Kansas native has yet to make a Truck Series start at his home track, but has had solid runs at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval in NASCAR’s other two premier series.
During the last seven seasons of his NASCAR racing career, Bowyer has competed in a total of 11 NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series events at Kansas Speedway. Bowyer has earned four top-five and six top-10 finishes and has led a total of 44 laps.
KHI TRUCK SERIES KANSAS SUCCESS: Throughout the past seven seasons, Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) has developed a solid reputation at Kansas Speedway by capturing one win, three poles, five top-five and seven top-10 finishes and has also led a total of 275 laps between six different drivers. Four-time Truck Series Champion Ron Hornaday gets the credit for bringing home KHI’s lone Kansas Speedway win after bringing the field to the checkers in April of 2008. Hornaday also secured all three pole awards for KHI (2010, 2009 and 2008).
CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 KHI team will unload chassis No. 059 at Kansas Speedway. This is same chassis that Clint Bowyer drove to a second-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway during the seventh of 25 races for the Truck Series.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Clint Bowyer returned to driver’s seat of the No. 2 Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Chevrolet Silverado for the N.C. Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the seventh event of the season for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Bowyer and the No. 2 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) crew battled a loose-handling truck on their way to securing a solid second-place finish.
AT-TRACK SCAVENGER HUNT: Fans will have the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt at Kansas Speedway to win tickets to the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 and other great KHI prizes. Stay tuned to www.twitter.com/KHI_TruckSeries or www.facebook.com/KevinHarvickInc for the latest updates and clues for the starting point of the scavenger hunt.
NASCAR TRUCK SERIES HITS A MILESTONE: The O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway will mark the 400th start for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. This milestone falls during the series’ 17th season. Since its inception the Truck Series has seen 10 different series champions. Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) driver Ron Hornaday currently holds the record for most wins (47) and championships (2009, 2007, 1997 and 1996). Hornaday captured his two most recent championships while driving for KHI.
BOWYER’S THOUGHTS ON KANSAS: How do you feel about your return to Kansas Speedway? “It’s always fun to go back to Kansas. It’s an important race track for me. You always want to go back and run well in front of the hometown crowd. I’m looking forward to getting back there and having some fun.” This is your third appearance in the Truck Series with KHI this season. What are your thoughts about the season as you head into Kansas? “The guys on the No. 2 KHI team have worked really hard this season, and we’ve come so close to winning each race. I’ve run well there in the past in both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series, so that gives me a lot of confidence heading into this weekend with the truck team.”
