Indianapolis Motor Speedway Brickyard 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sprint Cup Post-Qualifying Quotes

KURT BUSCH (No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 4th TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING RUN: “It was a solid run for our Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger. We were hoping for just a little bit more. I was just hanging on to it; it was on the loose side a bit. We were loose in practice and we kind of kept it on that side of things. I may have over drove turn 2 a bit. I was hoping that I could drive through the looseness in qualifying, but we just came up a bit shy.”

ARE YOU HAPPY WITH YOUR CAR IN RACE TRIM? “The track changes so much from the morning practice to like it is right now and when we’ll be running late in tomorrow’s race. I think that we have a fast Shell/Pennzoil Dodge. Track position is really a key here and to get a top-five starting position really helps us tomorrow. You have to be in the mix the last 40 laps to win this thing. If we can stay clean the whole race, have good pit stops and make the right adjustments as the track changes, maybe we’ll give the Captain his first Cup win at Indy.”

BRAD KESELOWSKI (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 5th CAN YOU TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING RUN? “I was very fortunate to participate in one of the first tire tests here after the debacle a few years ago. I learned a lot. I think more importantly, I have a really good Miller Lite Dodge. You have to have good cars. You don’t even realize it until you go from a bad car to a good car. The car was really good in qualifying. I don’t know what to do to go much faster. I feel like it’s a top-10 lap and I feel pretty good about that.”

WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO GIVE ROGER HIS FIRST CUP WIN AT INDY? “If either of us (Kurt Busch) is able to do it, I think that it would be a great achievement for Roger (Penske). It would be something that I would take a lot of honor in. Even if it’s Kurt that wins the race, I know that I’ve had a part of his car getting better as a team. It would still be a team victory even if my name’s not on the trophy.”

DOES ROGER GET REALLY INVOLVED HERE? “Oh yeah! He made a phone call last night and reminded us that we needed to try two tires in practice. He’s got this whole game plan and how the strategy is going to play out. He definitely studies this race. He loves coming here.”

ROBBY GORDON (No. 7 SPEED Energy Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 41st “That was basically our only qualifying run with being locked in (top 35 in owner points). I thought the lap was pretty good and then the 71 beat us, so it must not have been as good as I thought it was. I think that we have a good race car in race trim. We’ll just keep working hard on it.”
