WATKINS GLEN, NY – The McDonald’s Family Grandstand, located at the top of the famed Esses, has become a popular location for families during the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen weekend, August 11-14. Since 2008, the McDonald’s Kids’ Zone has been a great place for all children to enjoy a wide variety of activities in addition to watching the thrilling on-track action.
This year, the McDonald’s Family Zone promises to become even more popular, with an expanded Kids’ Zone and the addition of a new Teen Zone, as well as special family concession pricing courtesy of Americrown.
The smoke and alcohol free McDonald’s Family Grandstand provides a fun environment for the whole family to enjoy the race. The McDonald’s Kids’ Zone, which is adjacent to the McDonald’s Family Grandstand and provides inflatables, games, and an appearance from Ronald McDonald himself, has expanded to provide teen friendly activities as well. Located on the other side of the family grandstand is the McDonald’s Teen Zone. Teens will get to experience the view from the driver’s seat with racing simulators. There will also be inflatables for the teens to use and a WGI slot car track where they can race each other. The kids’ and teen zones will be open 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, and 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 14.
Families will not only have the chance to enjoy the games and fun of the McDonald’s Kids’ and Teen Zones but also be treated to an exclusive Q&A with Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates driver Jamie McMurray. The 2010 Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 champion will be there from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 14. There is no additional cost for families to attend the Q&A or gain access to the McDonald’s Family Zone.
The McDonald’s Family Zone will also have a concession stand that features a special Americrown Kids Zone Menu. All menu items will be $2 including Sahlen’s hot dogs, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fresh fruit cups, potato chips, cotton candy and Coca-Cola products.
A weekend reserved ticket in the McDonald’s Family Grandstand provides four-day general admission and a reserved seat on Sunday, August 14, with a Sprint Vision (large screen TV) view. Adult tickets are only $65 meaning fans pay less than $20.00 dollars per day ($16.25). Tickets for kids 18 years of age and under are only $20.00 ($5.00 per day) for the entire weekend making this location one of the most attractive and affordable option at The Soul of American Road Racing for families.
