Austin Green to make Truck debut with Spire Motorsports at Talladega

Austin Green will be making his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut with Spire Motorsports next weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.

The 25-year-old Green from Concord, North Carolina, will pilot the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado RST entry sponsored by GUNK for his first tackle in NASCAR’s third national touring series division at the sport’s largest venue on the schedule in Lincoln, Alabama.

Green, a former Legends Young Lions Winter Heat champion and Trans-Am competitor, commenced the 2026 season as a full-time O’Reilly Auto Parts Series competitor for Peterson Racing. He recorded a pair of top-10 results and four top-20 results through 16-scheduled events before he scaled back as a part-time competitor. Since being scaled as a part-time competitor, he competed at San Diego’s Naval Base Coronado and Sonoma Raceway, respectively, in June before he recently competed this past weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, all of which occurred with Peterson Racing. Green’s 2027 racing plans remains to be determined as Peterson Racing has signed Lee Pulliam and Harrison Burton to compete for the organization as full-time competitors next season.

To date, Green has made 40 career starts in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and two in the ARCA Menards Series division. He notched his first ARCA career victory at Charlotte in May 2025 and has finished in the top-10 mark 11 times in the O’Reilly division, with his best results being a runner-up result at the Charlotte Roval in October 2025 and a fourth-place run at Sonoma Raceway in June 2023.

Spire Motorsports’ No. 77 entry in the Truck Series division is currently ranked in sixth place in the owner’s standings while trailing the points lead by 133 points. The entry, which is led by crew chief Chad Walter, has been piloted by a total of nine competitors (Rajah Caruth, James Hinchcliffe, Carson Hocevar, Parker Kligerman, Jesse Love, Justin Marks, Tristan McKee, Nick Sanchez and Connor Zilisch) through 21-scheduled events. Throughout the latter span, the entry has finished in the top-10 mark 11 times and was piloted by Victory Lane at Texas Motor Speedway by Carson Hocevar in early May.

A total of seven competitors (Parker Kligerman, Grant Enfinger, Spencer Booyd, Raphael Lessard, Tate Fogleman, Matt DiBenedetto and Giovanni Ruggiero) won for the first time ever in the Truck division at Talladega as Green strives to join the elite list next weekend.

Austin Green’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut is scheduled to occur next Friday, October 23, at Talladega Superspeedway for the Love’s RV Stop 225. The event’s broadcast time is slated to commence at 4 p.m. ET on FS1, NASCAR Racing Network and SiriusXM.
