. Next Door Neighbors… Exide Batteries, primary sponsor on the No. 31 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet, has one of their largest domestic manufacturing plants in Bristol, Tenn. The 635,000 square foot battery manufacturing plant employs over 430 local residents and is housed a half-mile from Bristol Motor Speedway.

. Million Dollar Man… With his strong finish last Saturday at the two-mile Michigan International Speedway, Buescher surpassed the million dollar mark in career earnings. In his 66 starts, the 21-year-old has accumulated 14 top-five and 25 top-10 finishes along with one pole position.

James Buescher on driving at Bristol Motor Speedway

“Bristol Motor Speedway is such a great track. Since they reconfigured it a couple of year ago, you can race side-by-side all night long. You don’t have to beat and bang to pass the competition. As a driver, I have to find a line that is both fast and gives me the best opportunity to make passes. Things happen so quickly and you have to be on your toes for all 200 laps.

“There is something about the Bristol Motor Speedway’s night race that is electric. You can feel the electricity in the air when you walk through the tunnel. It is amazing when you can hear the cheers of the fans over the roar of the engines. It is a race that all the teams have marked on their schedule as a race they look forward to. Obviously with Exide Batteries having a plant right outside the track, we have a little added pressure to run well. They bring a number of employees and customers to the track and we want to give them a reason to cheer.”
