WALLACE RECORDS 18th-PLACE FINISH AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

FORT WORTH, Texas – Steve Wallace fought an ill-handling 5-Hour Energy Toyota in Saturday afternoon’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway, but was able to persevere to record an 18th-place finish.

“It certainly wasn’t the showing we were looking for,” said Wallace. “We really wanted to have a good showing in honor of my grandfather, Russ, but it wasn’t to be. I’m looking forward to putting the 2011 season behind us. It’s no secret that the new Nationwide Series car has thrown our team for a loop. It’s incredibly frustrating to all of us. All of the guys on this 5-Hour Energy team are working hard, we’re just missing something.

“We’re all looking forward to getting to Phoenix next week, because our short track program has been really strong this year,” he continued. “We feel like we can be competitive when we get there next week. Everyone is starting with a clean slate since the track has been reconfigured, so we’ll look to make the most of the extended practice sessions and hopefully have a better finish.”
