Biffle Leads Roush Fenway’s Championship Lineup into Bristol

RFR Charging to the Front; Looks for 18th Win at Bristol

CONCORD, N.C. (March 16, 2012) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Greg Biffle carries the Sprint Cup Series points lead into this weekend’s showdown at Bristol Motor Speedway. Biffle is the third Roush Fenway driver to hold the Cup point lead in the last year and leads a lineup of RFR Champions into this weekend race. Biffle, a two-time NASCAR Champion, leads fellow NASCAR Champions Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards in the points, with the pair sitting at fifth and sixth as the season rolls into its fourth event.

Biffle has climbed into the points lead via his third consecutive top-three finish to begin the 2012 season. He credits crew chief Matt Pucia for the fast start of the No. 16 3M team.

“It certainly started off to be a good season for us so far,” said Biffle after Las Vegas. “ Just plain and simply Matt Puccia is the reason why we’re running and competing and finishing where we are. This team needed leadership and he was willing to step up and take the task on and he’s done a fantastic job so far.”

On the Nationwide side, defending Champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and 2011 Daytona 500 Champion Trevor Bayne have each recovered from their involvement in a last-lap accident in the season opener at Daytona and set at third and fourth in the points’ race.

Stenhouse won the Nationwide Series race last weekend in Las Vegas, with the late-charging Bayne finishing fourth. On Sunday, all three of Roush Fenway’s Fords were in contention for the win late in the Sprint Cup event, with Biffle finishing the highest at third.

“The whole Roush Fenway team did a good job and at the end it was nice to have three cars up there with a shot at the win,” said Edwards. “It was a fun race.  It’s just a really fun race track, so, hopefully, we can go to Bristol and have a good run there.”

This weekend Roush Fenway moves to a track where it has won 17 NASCAR races, including 10 in the Sprint Cup Series and five in the Nationwide. Edwards looks for his fifth NASCAR win at Bristol, while Kenseth will look to find victory lane for the fourth time at BMS in a RFR Ford.
