Luck Runs Out for Rookie Chastain in Kansas

Kansas City, Kansas- (April 23, 2012) – Ross Chastain was hoping for some lady luck this weekend at the Kansas Speedway after he struggled one week early during his race at Rockingham Speedway with extreme handling issues.

In Rockingham, Chastain struggled with a truck so loose he was just simply unable to drive it competitively. His hopes were set high as he made his first trip to Kansas only to have an even more disappointing weekend, finishing in the 34th position after a blown motor on lap 17.

“We just could not get the handling of the truck to work good enough for me.” Said Chastain. “My #08 Watermelon.org/Florida Watermelon Association Tundra just was way too tight and I was unable to turn the truck and hit my marks all weekend. My qualifying run didn’t feel too bad with the handling, I just needed to run my line a bit different and we would have picked up a few more spots for sure. With this being my first time here at Kansas, I could have used some more laps of seat time to gain the familiarity of the track”.

Chastain qualified early Saturday morning in the 23rd position for the SFP 250 Camping World Truck Series race only to find himself out of the race on lap 17 with a blown motor.

“It just blew a ton of smoke out the back of the truck and it shut itself off,” said Chastain. There was nothing I could do. I just hate it for the Watermelon.org/Florida Watermelon Association sponsors. I was really hoping for a much better outcome than last weekend only to find myself out of the race on lap 17.”

Chastain will once again be looking for luck on his side at his next race on May 18th 2012 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
