Alex Bowman Busy On and Off Track at Talladega; Spending time with the children at Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind

[media-credit name=”ARCA Racing Network” align=”alignright” width=”180″][/media-credit]May 1, 2012 – (Mooresville, NC) – Not only does Cunningham Motorsports’ Alex Bowman have a busy few days on the race track, but he also has a full schedule off the track. Just a few days ago Bowman took the checkered flag on the high banks of Salem Speedway, after qualifying on the outside pole. Now, he is looking ahead to the 2.66 mile Talladega Superspeedway, as the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards kicks into high gear.

The International Motorsports Hall of Fame ARCA 250 weekend begins Thursday with a three hour practice session, beginning at 11:00am EST, followed by Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at 6:00pm (all times are EST). In between practice and qualifying, Bowman will take some time out to visit with the children at Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) in nearby Talladega, Alabama. Bowman will tour the facility, visiting some of the children in their classrooms. With Alex’s association with sponsor St. JudeChildren’s Research Hospital, it seems only natural for him to choose other local children’s charities to visit.

Final practice is scheduled Friday at 11:00-11:55am. The 94 lap race will be carried live on SPEED at 5:00pm. All events will be covered live on arcaracing.com, as well as by following Cunningham Motorsports on twitter @cunningham_race.

As the official charity of Talladega Superspeedway, AIDB holds their annual Race Fever event at the SPEED Channel Dome, International Motorsports Hall of Fame, Friday evening just outside of the race track. Over the past 25 years, Race Fever has donated $4 million to AIDB. Bowman will be attending the Race Fever event after completing 250 miles on the historic ‘Dega track, meeting with fans and signing autographs.

Since 1858, AIDB has been a leader in education and rehabilitation services for Alabama’s sensory impairedchildren and adults. Through five Talladega campuses and eight regional centers throughout Alabama, AIDB serves thousands of children and adults who are deaf, blind and multi-disabled in all 67 counties of Alabama. For more information on AIDB visit www.racefever.org or aidb.org.
