From the Cockpit:

Brian Scott: “I like racing at Talladega, but anything can happen there. Staying in front of the pack and avoiding wrecks is key, so track position is very important. We’ve seen that every year. I’ve got two good teammates to work with. Joey in the 18 car and I’m really looking forward to having Ryan Truex to work with in the 20 car this weekend. We’re really pushing it, both in the shop and at the track, to get Dollar General a solid finish. So hopefully on Saturday we can steer clear of the melee and come out with a strong finish at Talladega.”

From the Pit Box:

Kevin Kidd: “Talladega is all about drag and horsepower for qualifying. It is less about drag, more about horsepower and driver/spotter drafting skills when the race begins. We historically take a “race first” approach at Daytona and Talladega. It’s important for us to have strong cars in the race, even if that means we sacrifice in qualifying some. Since the inception of the new car, JGR has had a remarkable run at superspeedways, winning two and being in the running for wins in every race. Typically, if you are running at the end of a superspeedway race, you’ll come away with a pretty good finish.”
