Jeff Green and the Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Racing™ team finished a disappointing 32nd in Sunday’s Pioneer Hi-Bred 250 at Iowa Speedway. Green, who was once again tabbed as a replacement for the team’s injured primary driver Eric McClure, started the No. 14 patriotic-themed Camry from the 22nd position and despite the car’s extremely tight-handling condition, the Owensboro, KY native maintained the position for the first 70 laps. Just as the team began to discuss the upcoming green-flag pit stop, the No. 14 Reynolds Wrap®/ Hefty® brand Camry suffered a right-front tire failure on lap 72, sending it hard into the outside wall. With damage too severe to repair, Green was unable to finish the event and was relegated to a 32nd-place finish. With the result the TriStar Motorsports entry slipped four positions (30th) in NASCAR Owner Standings.
Jeff Green Quotes: “I can’t believe what happened. We had a decent car, but it was tight in the center of the turns. We were just talking about the adjustments we were going to make during our pit stop when the tire just let go. I hate that our day had to end like this.”
