FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS IN THE LONESTAR STATE: There is something special about the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway under the lights. For Timothy Peters and the No. 17 Red Horse Racing team, they anticipate wearing cowboy hats in victory lane. Peters has eight starts at the 1.5-mile track with a best finish of seventh during the 2010 season. With a solid start to the 2012 season, the team is looking to capture their seventh top-10 finish in seven races at Texas.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 17 team will take Chassis No. 110 off the gate for the Friday night race at Texas Motor Speedway. The chassis’s best finish came last season at Michigan International Speedway with a third-place finish and starting spot of ninth. Additionally this chassis was run at Darlington Raceway, Dover International Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway last season.

COME OUT AND SEE PETERS: Fans have two chances to meet Peters this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. The driver will visit the Camping World store in Denton, TX on Wednesday, June 6th from 6-7 p.m. for an autograph session. Next, Peters will join a lineup of Truck Series drivers on Friday, June 7th from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for an autograph session at the Speedway.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: With the threat of rain in the area, the Truck Series rolled off pit road last Friday afternoon for the Lucas Oil 200 at Dover International Speedway. Peters qualified, for what was meant to be a 200-lap race, in the eighth place and was able to capture yet another top-10 finish, crossing the finish line in the ninth place. Peters has not finished outside the top-10 in six races this Truck Series season, allowing him to maintain his second place position in the driver’s points standings, just one point out of the lead.

Timothy Peters talks about Texas Motor Speedway:

You’ve had two top-10 finishes this year on 1.5-mile tracks. Do you think the program is heading in the right direction?

“I feel very confident in our program. We have definitely turned over a leaf and it has shown with our finishes at Kansas and Charlotte. I’m really looking forward to Texas and to see what this No. 17 Toyota Tundra team can do. We have had a solid season so far and our win will come.”

What will it take to bring home a solid finish at Texas Motor Speedway?

“Texas is a really unique track. People compare Texas to Charlotte Motor Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway but Texas drives a lot different than them. You have to have a very neutrally balanced truck. This is a very throttle sensitive track. If you can find those points on the track and hit them right, you can win the race.”
