Hemric Seeks Another Defining Day at Charlotte
Racing for Rowdy … One of the best opportunities in the Chase for Daniel Hemric awaits at his home of Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) on Friday evening. The driver of the No. 19 Delphi Chevrolet Silverado seeks another career-defining day at “America’s Home for Racing” as he pays homage to Kyle Busch. The former Legends Million winner has his No. 19 featuring Busch’s colors from the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series when he drove a Delphi Chevrolet to victory at Daytona International Speedway. The No. 19 team looks to return Rowdy’s colors to victory lane once more at CMS and continue their ascent in the Chase standings.
Trending Towards the Top … Since the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Trucks Series (NCTS) regular season finale at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on August 22nd, Hemric has vaulted from ninth to sixth in the points standings. The most crucial part of the season has extracted Hemric’s best performances thus far with three top-10 results in the last four races, including four-straight races with finishes of 12th or better. The results aren’t the only stat that tells the story of the team’s elevated performance. Hemric has collected points in six of the last eight stages dating back to Richmond Raceway, which has helped him score 41 points in two of the last three races. Hemric is coming off a fourth-place finish at Kansas Speedway where he closed to within five markers of the top-five in points.
Season to Date … Hemric returns to CMS sixth in the NCTS Chase standings, 87 markers out of the lead. He has collected four top-five’s and nine top-10 finishes through 20 races. Hemric’s stat line also includes a stage win at Watkins Glen International and an average finish of 14.5.
Tune In … Friday afternoon boasts a packed on-track schedule beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET with practice and qualifying on FOX Sports 2. Race coverage switches to FOX network for the second time this year at 5:00 p.m. ET. Daniel Hemric Quote:
On racing at Charlotte for the second time this season:
“We were all encouraged after the May race at Charlotte about our intermediate package and the work we’ve all put in. I think we took another big step at Kansas a couple weeks ago. After the rain delay, three of us were running up there in the top-five. That was rewarding and it’s the expectation again this weekend with our Delphi Chevrolet. Obviously, Kyle and the Busch family are on our minds this week with the celebration of life, and we’re proud to honor him with our Delphi paint scheme. He set the standard at Charlotte, and that’s something we’re trying to achieve for ourselves this week.”
