POCONO RACEWAY
TEAM CHEVY DRIVER PRESS CONFERENCE TRANSCRIPT
August 3, 2012
JUAN PABLO MONTOYA, NO. 42 TARGET CHEVROLET met with members of the media at Pocono Raceway and discussed a potential IndyCar Series return to Pocono and keeping his patience through adversity. Full Transcript:
IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE MEDIA THAT AN INDYCAR RACE MAY COME BACK HERE (TO POCONO). I KNOW THE CARS HAVE ADVANCED ABOUT THREE GENERATIONS SINCE YOU WERE THERE. WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON THIS PLACE FROM A RACERS POINT OF VIEW? “Since the repave I think it would be a cool place to race Indy cars. I think the old track would have been kind of crazy how bumpy it was. I think with the smooth surface the way it is I think it could bring the best racing of any place they go to. The straightaway is so long I think it could bring really good drafting and it would be a different kind of race.”
HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR PATIENCE EVEN THOUGH YOU KNOW THINGS ARE IMPROVING AND ARE WORKING ON THINGS? “We all get frustrated. We always have our moments. I will tell you the truth if you don’t get frustrated it is because you don’t care. I care a lot about this program. We have had our good moments, our bad moments, but I know how hard people are working to make this better. I have worked harder this year than any other year. We really want to come out ahead on this. I think we’ve got a ton of new people in the shop and we have good ideas. Our starting point was so far off that to get there it’s going to be a long road.”
