This Week’s ToyotaCare/Grime Boss Toyota at Richmond International Raceway… Ryan Truex will pilot RAB Racing Chassis No. 42 this weekend at Richmond International Raceway. This Toyota Camry made its 2012 debut at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March, where Kenny Wallace started 18th and finished 11th. Wallace then raced it at Auto Club Speedway, where he started sixth and finished seventh. In July, Wallace drove this chassis from an 11th-place starting position to a fourth-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway. Most recently, Brett Moffitt piloted this chassis to an eighth-place finish in his Nationwide Series debut at Iowa Speedway.

RAB Racing at Richmond… RAB Racing has fielded Nationwide Series entries at Richmond International Raceway six times since 2009, with drivers Landon Cassill, Travis Pastrana, Hermie Sadler, and Wallace. The team’s best showing at the .75 mile-oval is a fifth-place finish, which was posted by Wallace in 2011’s running of the Virginia 529 College Savings 250.

Solid at Richmond… In three previous starts at Richmond International Raceway, Truex has accumulated one top-five and two top-10 finishes. His best finish of fourth came last fall where he drove from the rear of the field to earn his first career NNS top-five finish.

So far in 2012… This weekend will mark Truex’s ninth NNS start in 2012. In his previous eight starts he has earned one pole, one top-five and four top-10 finishes and led 46 laps.

Get Well, Torie… In recognition of his 16-year-old daughter Torie Costa’s battle with childhood rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue malignant tumor of skeletal muscle origin that accounts for approximately 3.5% of the cases of cancer among children aged 0 to 14 years, crew chief Scott Zipadelli and the members of RAB Racing’s Nationwide Series team are wearing pink bracelets in support of Torie. A CaringBridge site has been created where Torie and her family post updates as she battles her disease. Family and friends are able to visit the site, stay informed and leave supportive messages. Ryan Truex Quote:

“Richmond is one of the tracks I always look forward to, I’ve always done well and have had good equipment there. It doesn’t drive like a short track at all, while it’s a small track you have to drive it like you would a mile and a half. It’s more about momentum and hitting your marks. If you miss your line by two inches you’re going to have a slow lap. ‘I’ve got some great advice on the track from Denny [Hamilin], and that really helped me last year. If I hit my marks I’m sure we’ll have a great night.”

“I’m happy to be back with RAB Racing. We ran well at Texas, and this team has had strong runs here at Richmond before. I don’t see why we can’t bring home a top-five on Friday. Scott Zipadelli [crew chief] and I get along well, and have brought home great finishes in the past. I think we have a good shot to get a strong finish on Friday night.”

Scott Zipadelli Quote:

“We know we need to have a good starting spot in order to have a strong race. We’ll have to keep our ToyotaCare/Grime Boss Camry in the lead pack all night to have a shot for the win. The biggest challenge is getting the car comfortable for the race. We practice during the heat of the day and race at night. We have to make sure we don’t over adjust the car for the track conditions. When the sun goes down, the track is going to gain grip and we need to keep up with it all night. We’re all looking forward to having Ryan Truex back behind the wheel of our No. 99 this weekend. He’s a great driver, and he’s proven that he knows how to get around Richmond.”
