Goody’s Returns To Martinsville Speedway As Sponsor Of Fall Cup Event In 2013

Goody’s Fast Relief 500 On Oct. 27, 2013 Will Be 33rd Goody’s Event At Martinsville

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Sept. 20, 2012) – One of the longest and most successful partnerships in NASCAR history continued to grow today with the announcement that Goody’s® Powder will return to Martinsville Speedway in 2013 as the sponsor of the fall Sprint Cup race.

The Goody’s Fast Relief 500, scheduled for Oct. 27, 2013, will mark the 33rd Martinsville race sponsored by the fast pain relief product in six different divisions. Goody’s® first sponsored a Sprint Cup race at Martinsville in the fall of 1983, a race won by Ricky Rudd.

For the past several seasons, Goody’s has been the sponsor of the spring Sprint Cup race at Martinsville, but opted to sponsor the fall event beginning in 2013. Martinsville in the fall is nothing new for the long-time sponsor. From 1983 through 1995 their name was attached to the fall event.

“For several decades, Goody’s® and Martinsville Speedway have shared a passion for speed and developed a long-standing, trusted partnership,” said Joseph Juliano, brand director for Goody’s® Powder. “Whether it’s the Goody’s Fast Relief 500 or a headache, drivers and fans know that seconds count, and that’s why they turn to Goody’s® for fast pain relief.”

“I think you can probably count on one hand the number of partnerships in racing which have endured as long as the one Goody’s and Martinsville Speedway have enjoyed,” said Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell. “But it doesn’t surprise me. It’s a great combination. We all are focused on the same thing, keeping our customers happy.”

Goody’s will mark 26 years of involvement at Martinsville with the 2013 Goody’s Fast Relief 500. They sponsored at least one race a year at Martinsville from 1983 through 2000, then returned in 2006 and has sponsored a race every year since.

“Goody’s and Martinsville Speedway are practically synonymous,” said Campbell. “I’ve been at Martinsville Speedway forever and it’s difficult to remember a time when they weren’t involved with us. It’s a relationship all of us here are very proud of, one that we are very proud to be involved with.”
