MARTINSVILLE, VA (October 29, 2012) – The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway is always entertaining and a matter of survival for the 36 trucks starting the event. Jason White knows this very well and although he had his hands full all day, he was able to survive the 200 lap event at the paperclip shaped track. At the end of the day, White brought his No. 23 Grime Boss Ford home to a modest 13th place finish in the running of the Kroger 200 at the Virginia track.
Hampered by rain drizzle falling, White started the shortest race of the season from the 27th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day. Once the green flag flew, the No. 23 Grime Boss would battle its way through the field and some pit strategy would find White inside the top-10 at the halfway point of the race. However, the Grime Boss Ford did not kindly respond to the changes and Jason would fall back in the field before a late race caution presented the team an opportunity for a trip down pit road and some much needed changes. In typical Martinsville fashion, the closing laps of the race would include some wild action which White was able to handle and bring home his No. 23 Ford to a respectable 13th place finish.
“Our Grime Boss Ford was actually pretty good most of the day but we hurt ourselves with some pit strategy,” stated White. “We had some rain drops falling during our qualifying run so we didn’t get the starting spot we should have had. Early in the race, our No. 23 Ford was a little tight but we used an early pit stop to correct that and we were really good after that. We then used some mid-race pit strategy that we thought would pay off and our tire wear really hurt us at that point. Luckily, some late cautions gave us the chance to come down pit road and get some fresh Goodyear tires and we were able to survive the late action to come home safely. ”
The 13th-place finish kept White in the 11th position in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers’ standings – now just nine points out of the tenth position.
“I want to thank Grime Boss for coming on board this week as a new sponsor for this team,” added Jason. “Of course we would have liked to have put them in Victory Lane, but in typical fashion of this team we came home with a solid hard fought finish. We have three races to go with a busy end of the season and all of us on this GunBroker.com team are ready for some very strong finishes.”
Jason and his GunBroker.com team return to action this Friday night, November 2nd as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Texas Motor Speedway for the running of the Winstar World Casino 350k.
