“With nothing to lose and only two races to go in the season, I’m determined to go after a win this weekend. My team has fought hard all year and they deserve it. No. 31 Exide Batteries Chevrolet News and Notes

Racing in the Desert…James Buescher and the No. 31 head out to the desert for the second to last event on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) schedule. This will mark the first time the NCWTS has returned to Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) since the track went through a transformation in 2011.

Start Positive, Stay Positive…Buescher and the No.31 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet team welcome back the Exide Batteries colors in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series semi-final event of 2012 at Phoenix International Raceway. Exide Technologies, with operations in more than 80 countries, is one of the world’s largest producers and recyclers of lead-acid batteries. The company’s four global business groups — Transportation Americas, Transportation Europe and Rest of World, Industrial Energy Americas and Industrial Energy Europe and Rest of World — provide a comprehensive range of stored electrical energy products and services for industrial and transportation applications.

Chassis Debut…The No. 31 Exide Batteries Chevrolet Silverado team will unload a brand new chassis, TMS-221. Phoenix will mark this chassis’ first race.

Last Race Recap…After looking like one of the trucks to beat on the 1.5-mile oval at Texas Motor Speedway, Buescher was a victim of an eventful restart mid-way through the 147-lap event. The No.31 received considerable damage that altered the way the truck handled the rest of the race. Buescher continued to battle for an 11th-place finish and maintains the series points lead heading into PIR.

Look Your Best at PIR… When the gates open for the weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, Great Clips stylists will have their scissors in hand and will be offering free haircuts to race attendees. Just stop by the Great Clips display! Donations will be accepted with all money raised going to Project H3. Project H3 was established to provide aid for long-term, vulnerable homeless veterans and their families. For more information see their website: http://www.azceh.org/project-h3

Buescher on returning to Phoenix International Raceway –

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Phoenix [International Raceway] this week. Last time there we had a rough weekend but this team has put that weekend behind us. I feel that all teams are on an even playing field heading into this weekend with the track going through a reconfiguration and resurface since the last time we raced here. To better prepare myself for this weekend, I’ve been watching a lot of film of previous races. We will be unloading a brand new chassis next weekend in hopes to put Exide Batteries back into victory lane and give us more separation in the points.”

Miguel Paludo

No. 32 World Diabetes Day/Duroline Chevrolet

Phoenix International Raceway – Lucas Oil 150

November 9, 2012

No. 32 World Diabetes Day/Duroline Chevrolet News and Notes

Zoomtown USA…Miguel Paludo and the No. 32 World Diabetes Day/Duroline team head to the desert for the penultimate race of the 2012 season at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR). The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) has not visited PIR since the spring of 2011, which marked Paludo’s first and only trip to the 1.0-mile tri-oval. Paludo started 28th at the event and finished 25th after battling a loose truck, which ultimately led to late-race spin.

Blue for World Diabetes Day…The No. 32 Chevy Silverado will run the World Diabetes Day paint scheme for the second and final time, marking the last race before WDD on November 14th. The truck will once again feature the blue circle logo for World Diabetes Day, Paludo’s son Oliver’s name above the passenger side door and a collage of diabetes statistics and resources. Paludo, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes nine years ago, found out earlier this season that Oliver, only eight months old at the time, is also diabetic. Just weeks later, Paludo was named as a Blue Circle Champion for the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), becoming the first South American representative of the global organization.

Diabetes Fact of the Week… November is Diabetes Awareness Month. In many parts of the world, the beginning of November marks the start of a month-long series of activities aimed at raising diabetes awareness and calling for urgent action to tackle the diabetes epidemic. Here’s a reminder of why urgent action is required to protect our future: There are currently 366 million people living with diabetes. This figure is set to rise to over 550 million by 2030.

Look Your Best at PIR… When the gatesopen for the weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, Great Clips stylists will have their scissors in hand and will be offering free haircuts to race attendees. Just stop by the Great Clips display! Donations will be accepted with all money raised going to Project H3. Project H3 was established to provide aid for long-term, vulnerable homeless veterans and their families. For more information see their website: http://www.azceh.org/project-h3

This Week’s Silverado…Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components team will unload chassis TMS-205 at Phoenix International Raceway. TMS-205 has been utilized previously this season at Rockingham Speedway, Dover International Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway, with its best result of 12th being achieved in Dover.

Previous Race Recap…Paludo was primed for a stellar night at Texas Motor Speedway, armed with a fast truck and a very special World Diabetes Day paint scheme. However, after a strong practice session and qualifying run, tight handling and an extended green-flag run intervened, resulting in a 14th-place finish in the WinStar World Casino 350k.

Don’t Forget To Vote…Would you like to see the first Brazilian in history become the NCWTS Most Popular Driver? Voting remains open until November 19th! Be sure to cast your vote once a day for Miguel Paludo here: www.nascar.com/ncwtsmpd

Miguel Paludo on Phoenix International Raceway and Making His 50th NCWTS Start-

“Phoenix is one of those places that I didn’t have a very good experience the first time I was there, and sometimes it’s your first visit to a track that sets the tone for how you feel about it. We were really loose in practice and qualifying, and then I wound up getting turned in the race. However, this is almost like a whole new track now that it has been repaved and reconfigured, so we’re really all on an even playing field. Hopefully I’ll run a lot better and like the track a lot more this time around.”

“It’s hard to believe that we’re almost to the end of my second full-time season in Truck Series and that I’ll be making my 50th start. So much has changed since my first start: we have a new house, our first child was born last year, and then he was diagnosed with diabetes this year…it’s a lot of life-changing events. I’ve accomplished a lot of goals here in NASCAR: I became the first Brazilian to win a pole the Truck Series, I’ve run some Nationwide races, I’ve gotten into the top-10 in points and I’ve grown a lot as a driver. There’s still so much I want to accomplish. I hope that by this time next year we’re talking about being in contention for the championship. I’m grateful for all the things that I’ve experienced and accomplished so far in my NASCAR career and I’m looking forward to what’s to come in the next 50 starts.”
