Tested and Ready… With two weeks of late-race bad luck to put behind them, Dakoda Armstrong and the No. 60 WinField racing team head to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park Sunday for the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event at the 2.45-mile road course. Competing in his first road course event since a 10th-place result in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards race at New Jersey Motorsports Park in 2011, Armstrong feels confident his prior experiences will prove beneficial and help him get up to speed quickly this weekend. Though most NCWTS competitors have yet to see the course that sits just outside Toronto, Ontario, Armstrong participated in a road course driving school testing session two weeks ago to get acclimated to the right and left hand turns before the Chevrolet Silverado 250.

“It’s hard to say how much I learned during the test with the sports car a couple weeks ago, because that car is lighter, quicker and handles completely different,” Armstrong explained. “Even though I won’t be able to take much of the strategy I learned during the day of testing, it was still very helpful to be able to turn laps and learn the track before going with our WinField Silverado. I think it’ll be a big help to already have some time on the track and know where some of the tricky spots are, because I have a feeling all on-track activity this weekend is going to be pretty unpredictable.”

This Weekend’s WinField Silverado… The No. 60 Turn One Racing team and crew chief Joe Shear, Jr. have converted and specially prepared chassis 34 for both left and right hand turns this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. This chassis was built and modified specifically for road course racing and has not seen competition with Armstrong at the wheel.

Previous Race Recap: Bristol Motor Speedway… The NCWTS returned to night racing under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway last Wednesday night for the UNOH 200. Dakoda Armstrong and the No. 60 WinField Turn One Racing team began the weekend strong during both practice sessions and had high hopes for the 200-lap main event. Qualifying 16th on Wednesday afternoon, Armstrong ran a solid race inside the top-15 after rebounding from tight handling conditions early in the night. A stack up on the second to last restart caused him to lose several spots, forcing an 18th place result.

Dakoda Armstrong on Road Racing in Canada…

You’ve had a couple road course starts in the ARCA Racing Series. Can you apply any of that to this weekend?

“Canadian Tire Motorsports Park is pretty much entirely different from the road course tracks I’ve raced at before. They all have different braking zones that you have to get used to individually, and at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park there really aren’t many corners that you can use the rumble strips like most road courses. Basically all I’ll be able to use is the experience shifting gears throughout the race.”

Broadcast Information… The Inaugural NCWTS Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park will be covered live on Fox Sports 1, beginning with the NCWTS Setup show at 1:30 pm ET on Sunday, September 1. Radio coverage provided by Motor Racing Network, also beginning at 1:30 pm ET.
