CASSILL RIDES DAYTONA MOMENTUM INTO PHOENIX

AVONDALE, Ariz. – After a strong run in the season-opening DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona, Landon Cassill moves on to Phoenix International Raceway this week looking for more success.

Cassill raced hard on the lead lap at Daytona and came home with a 21st-place finish. He is 14th in Nationwide Series points entering Saturday’s Blue Jeans Go Green 200 race at PIR. Additionally, Cassill also had a big day Sunday at Daytona, finishing a solid 12th in the Daytona 500, the first race of the Sprint Cup season.

“We’re coming out of Daytona in pretty good shape,” Cassill said. “It gives us a boost going on to Phoenix. I like the track. Of course, it’s very different from Daytona, but I think we’ll have a good car out there.”

Cassill, who will be in the Flex Seal Chevrolet, with additional sponsorship from G&K Services, has raced four times at Phoenix in the Nationwide Series with a top finish of sixth (in 2008). He last raced there in the series in 2010.

Nationwide practice will begin at PIR at 1 p.m. (ET) Friday. Another round is scheduled at 5 p.m.

Qualifying – in NASCAR’s new “knockout” format – is scheduled at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 3:45 p.m.
