Okuma paint scheme on RCR’s No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro for Cale Conley’s debut at Bristol and Darlington
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 10, 2014) – An Okuma paint scheme car will run on the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) No. 33 entry in two NASCAR Nationwide Series races in the spring of 2014. They are the Drive to Stop Diabetes 300 on March 15 at Bristol Motor Speedway, and the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 on April 11 at Darlington Raceway.
The RCR No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro will be driven by Cale Conley, who is making his Nationwide Series debut at Bristol following a full-time ride in the 2013 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East where he finished with four top-fives, five top-10s and one pole award.
Okuma and RCR: Partners in Performance
The new paint scheme car celebrates a longstanding, productive partnership between Okuma and RCR. Okuma CNC machines are used for precision machining of complex race car parts which are produced at the RCR/Okuma Technology Center (OTC). Following are just a few facts about this partnership:
Began in 2000 – 14 years to-date of partnering to achieve technological excellence and competitive advantage
RCR makes more than 3,500 parts for their race team in their Okuma Technology Center
RCR uses 15 Okuma machines to produce and refine competition parts ranging from pistons to camshafts, cylinder heads, and engine blocks
The accuracy and repeatability of Okuma CNC machines allows RCR to achieve engine durability
By using the Okuma THINC-OSP control, RCR engineers are able to program machines to meet and maintain stringent precision standards
“Two of our goals at Richard Childress Racing are winning races and winning championships,” says Richard Childress, RCR President & CEO. “To accomplish this we must be competitive and consistent every week. Race car components, especially those for engines, are held to tolerances of less than .001 of an inch. Okuma’s high technology machining centers go even further and are accurately repeatable to .00008 of an inch.
“Okuma technology, coupled with unparalleled engineering support, creates a partnership that enables RCR to achieve our high-performance goals.”
