Greenville, SC, March 19, 2014–Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet will be sponsoring Kenzie Ruston and the #96 Chevrolet Impala this weekend. Last season, Kenzie Ruston raced into the record books at Greenville Pickens Speedway with her third place finish; the finish was the highest for a female driver in a NASCAR K&N Pro Series race. Ruston plans on improving that record Saturday, March 22 in the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150.
Ruston said, “It’s awesome to have Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet on the car this week. Kevin does so much for racing at Greenville Pickens Speedway, and all over South Carolina. It means a lot to me that he was willing to support us this weekend, and that he is confident we will deliver results for him and his team over at Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet Cadillac.”
In addition to her third place finish last spring, Kenzie finished eighth in the fall event at Greenville Pickens Speedway. Crew Chief Mike Fritts said, “Greenville is extremely hard on tires so NASCAR has made the decision to give the teams a second set of tires at a mandatory halfway break at lap 75. I feel this will benefit us with Kenzie’s driving style. With her feedback and knowledge of the car she has been able to help us get the car driving the way she needs it to. It takes an aggressive driver to win at this track and I feel we have the best one out there.”
Kenzie will be at Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet on Friday, March 21 from 1:00-3:00 PM, for autographs. Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet Cadillac is located at 2320 Laurens Rd, Greenville, SC 29607. The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race is Saturday, March 22 at Greenville Pickens Speedway. The speedway is located at 3800 Calhoun Memorial Hwy, in Easley, SC. Kenzie will participate in the pre-race autograph session at 7:00 p.m. the Kevin Whitaker 150 will start at 8:00 p.m. The race will be televised on Fox Sports 1, on Friday, March 28 at 11 a.m.
