“That wasn’t the result we thought we could get with this car. We had a lot of short run speed at the beginning of the race and our strength was our entry and exit early on but we were way to tight through the center. We kept trying to make adjustments. The third run I wish it would have stayed green longer because all the guys that short pitted were in front of us and I thought we were better than them. We never got that track position back. I don’t know that we were good enough to at the end. The third run we passed the leader and got our lap back under green but we lost our speed after that. We tried to free up the center and all we did was hurt our entry and exit and never made the center any better.”
RYAN REED, No. 16 Drive to Stop Diabetes Ford Mustang / FINISHED 12th
“We had a really fast race car. We pitted there and it was just an up and down night. It felt like we were passing cars every lap. It is a good thing when your car is fast enough to do that. We had a tire come apart and we had some rubber get wadded up in the brake rotor and had to come in and fix that before it caused an issue. At the end of the day, I feel we had a good solid top-10 car and we finished 12th and kept all the fenders on it. We will move on.” YOUR VIEW OF WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE 31? “You know, I just got inside of him there and I got inside of him three or four times and gave him the position and finally it just got to the point where it was go time. Once I was inside and I went back to throttle he came back down the track and I got into his left rear. I didn’t mind moving him up the track but I wasn’t trying to wreck him. You can only block a guy so many laps before he is going to move you and once he moves you it is kind of up to fate at that point what is going to happen.”
RYAN BLANEY, No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang / FINISHED 9th
“We started okay. Late in the run we would give up turn in the middle and forward drive, pretty much everything you need we would give up. I thought we got decent by the middle quarter of the race but on the restart we left fuel out of it for the last restart to see if it would take off and it didn’t. It was way too tight with fuel out of it. We blew a right front early and the right front was about to blow there at the end which is why we fell back at the end. This tire is throwing us for a curve. It is tough to figure out.”
