ADVANCE NOTES

·        Biffle at Michigan

o   Biffle has 22 Sprint Cup career starts at Michigan, earning four wins, 10 top-five and 14 top-10 finishes.

o   Michigan is Biffle’s second-best average finishing track.  His average finish is 11.2 from an average starting position of 13.6.

o   Biffle has led a lap in all but six of his 22 starts at Michigan.

·        1,000th Win for Ford

o   One year ago Biffle claimed the 1,000th NASCAR win for Ford with his victory at Michigan.  The win made Father’s Day extra special for Biffle since he was able to celebrate with his daughter in victory lane.

·        Military Salute

o   The 3M Hire Our Heroes program was created by the 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division (AAD).  AAD serves the collision repair industry, and the goal of the program is to provide funding for scholarships and tool grants so that military veterans, and family members, can get the support they need to find rewarding careers in that industry. The industry needs good technicians, and our veterans need good careers, and we are happy to be able to help bring those two needs together.

o   This is the second year of the program and over 100 veterans have received the grants to help get them started on the right foot in their careers.

o   The 3M team, on behalf of the 3M Hire Our Heroes campaign, has also held a car cleanup event at Ft. Bragg for the spouses of deployed and fallen soldiers to get their cars ready for summer. We will be doing that again at Dover AFB in September.

·        Michigan Roots

o   Justin Hines, engine tuner for the No. 16 Ford, is originally from Garden City, Michigan.  Hines started working at Roush Industries in Michigan at the engine shop back in 1994 before moving to North Carolina in 2002 and working for Jack’s race teams.  Hines was the engine tuner for Greg’s rookie year in the Cup Series.
Biffle on Michigan:

“Last year was the best Father’s Day ever, 1,000th win for Ford and to have my daughter there for her first victory lane.  I’m not sure how to top that, but hopefully something spectacular will happen.  Michigan is one of my favorite tracks; it’s a big fast place and has lots of room to race.  There is always a lot of strategy going on.  Fuel mileage and pit stops are very important.”

Puccia on Michigan:

“Michigan is a very special track for us, not only is it Ford’s backyard but it’s also Jack’s backyard. We are looking forward to getting up to Michigan and getting a good run and building some momentum.”
