WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 Cessna Team

Kentucky Recap: The Bluegrass State and Kentucky Speedway was the most recent stop for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Saturday night under the lights. Jamie McMurray, driving the colorful Lexar paint scheme on the No. 1 Chevrolet SS, was running in the top-10 before getting involved in an accident on lap-154, that relegated the Lexar team to a 37th place finish.

McMurray at Daytona: McMurray, a two-time winner in NSCS competition at DIS, has made 23 career starts at the 2.5 mile high-banked tri-oval.  He has five top-10 and three top-five finishes at the famed “World Center of Racing”, as well as two wins coming in the 2007 Coke Zero 400 and the 2010 Daytona 500.  McMurray has completed 3,736 of a possible 4,066 (91.9%) laps of completion.  His best start was sixth (2006) and best finish of first-place twice (July 2007 and February 2010

Stars and Stripes:  The No. 1 Cessna Patriotic Chevy SS will be livened with a red, white and blue, stars and stripes paint scheme this weekend to celebrate the Independence Day Holiday and the celebration of our nation’s birthday 238th birthday.

Kyle Larson and No. 42 Target Team

Kentucky Recap: For the second weekend in a row, the No. 42 Target team, led by Kyle Larson, posted some of the fastest lap times during practice, en route to another top-10 qualifying position.  The Target Chevy showed good speed early on in the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway, but a blown tire on Lap 76 sent the car hard into the wall, which unfortunately led to Larson being unable to get back on the track and ultimately finishing 40th.

Larson at Daytona: Larson’s NSCS Rookie of the Year campaign began earlier this season at DIS, when he made his first-ever start in the Daytona 500.  While this weekend will only be Larson’s second NSCS start at DIS, he has three previous starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, with an average finish of 9.7, and one start in the ARCA Racing Series, where he finished second.

A Shopping Bullseye:  If you have made it to the race only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack a few necessities, there’s no need to worry.  For all your last minute needs and forgotten items, Target has all of the essentials and more.  The nearest Target is located at 2380 W International Speedway Boulevard, Daytona Beach, Fla. 32114and can be reached at (386) 257-4778.  Call ahead and make sure they have what you need.
