CASSILL STRONG AGAIN AT IOWA

NEWTON, Iowa – Landon Cassill likes to come home to Iowa to race.

A native of Cedar Rapids, Cassill scored a 13th-place finish in Saturday night’s U.S. Cellular 250 Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway, completing a fine two-race run in his home state this season. In May, Cassill was 10th in the season’s first Nationwide event at the .875-mile track.

“I could race here every week,” Cassill said. “I like the track. It’s a good combination of a short but fast track. And we’ve had good cars here.”

Cassill, who qualified 16th, raced in the top 20 virtually the entire evening and ran as high as 10th, finishing on the lead lap.

His finish kept him in 11th place in the Nationwide driver point standings.

Sprint Cup invader Brad Keselowski won the race, leading 146 of 250 laps. Chase Elliott leads the points.

The series moves on to Watkins Glen, N.Y. Aug. 9 for the first of two straight road-course races.
